I was raised by a single mom, who served honorably in the U.S. Navy, both in the 1970’s as a Data Systems Technician, and in the 1990’s, in the Navy Reserves, as a Mess Cook, on board the briefly on board the USS Guam. My Dad was a Machinist’s Mate in the U.S. Navy, also in the 1970’s. I am committed to serving those that have served and currently serve in all branches of service, to protect and defend the freedom we have in our country. I thank them for their service, and promise that as a member of Congress, my staff and I will always be available to any needs of serving members of the military, veterans, and all of their families.

My campaign team has learned that twenty-three percent of America’s homeless are veterans, and as more of them fall into economic disparity, suicide rates are increasing, as they find themselves incapable of taking care of themselves and their families. I pledge to do everything in my power to end this cruelty to our veterans, in Oregon, and across the country. This means reforming a dysfunctional VA system and committing more resources to mental health services.
